Ottertail Lake Wedding | Meg & Ryan
Meg & Ryan had their wedding on Ottertail Lake last August and it was simply GORGEOUS. Through all of my years photographing, some of my absolute favorite weddings happen right on the lake. Added bonus: they’re just a short boat ride away from Zorbaz. #win
Glendalough State Park is also right in their back yard so, of course, we had to hop over there for portraits. I grew up going to Glendalough as a kid so going back there for bridal portraits felt like walking through time. We spent around an hour and a half walking around the park, and there was no shortage of beautiful spots to take advantage of.
If you’re considering getting married at the lake, here are a few tips to consider!
- Always, always, always, have a backup plan in case it rains. It can be something as simple as a small patch of trees with good coverage, or a pack of clear umbrellas from amazon.
- Send a few photographs of the grounds to your photographer ahead of time. This will help them plan out shots and locations. For the best photos, be sure to capture the locations around or just before the time of the ceremony.
- Good parking is a must. Meg and Ryan solved this problem by having a small parking lot behind the lake house. Parking was easy to get in and out of and it made a huge difference. If parking solutions are limited, consider doing a shuttle for your guests!
- Have some ice-cold beers ready to go. Trust me, your guests will thank you. Check out the awesome grain-bin bar Meg & Ryan had below in the photos. 🙂
These guys threw a helluva party and it was a dream to be part of it.
